Most painters will not touch this

Ask a painting company about rotted fascia and you usually get one of two answers. Either they will paint over it, or they will tell you to hire a carpenter first and call back when the wood is sound. Both leave the problem with you.

Michael spent five years in general contracting before five more painting. That is why the carpentry is ours. Damaged wood gets cut out, replaced with new primed material, and finished as part of the same job on the same written quote.

Coastal salt air

From Seal Beach down to San Clemente, salt air and marine layer keep timber damp. Fascia and trim on the seaward elevation can go in half the time of the rest of the house.

A sprinkler hitting siding or a post every morning will destroy it quietly over a few years. We find this on almost every inland job.

Inland heat opens joints as timber expands and contracts. Water gets into the gap, and the rot starts where nobody can see it.

Questions about exterior painting

Can you just fill the rot instead of replacing it?

Filler works on small surface defects. Structural rot has to come out, because filler over soft wood fails within a season and takes your paint with it.

Are you licensed for carpentry?

Will the new wood match?

Stock profiles match directly. Anything unusual gets milled or built to match the existing detail.

Do I need a separate contractor?

No, that is the whole point. Repair and paint are one crew, one visit and one quote.

How do I know if I have rot?

Press a screwdriver into the fascia under the gutter line. If it sinks, the wood is gone. We check this free on the walkthrough.
